Product Designer
Built libraries, starter kits, and internal tools to improve consistency and scale across teams
Overview
Creating a centralized system to make design more consistent and scalable across teams.
Designers across AppleCare were working without a shared system tailored to their needs, leading to inconsistencies and repeated work. Apple’s core system provided a foundation, but didn’t fully support service-specific workflows.
I led design system initiatives, building libraries, starter kits, and a centralized hub to improve consistency and scale across teams.
Key Decisons
Tailored system patterns to AppleCare workflows
Extended core patterns and introduced components tailored to service-based experiences.
Centralized patterns to eliminate duplication
Created shared libraries and starter kits so teams weren’t rebuilding the same components.
Built reusable patterns to support growth
Defined flexible components that scale across multiple teams, products, and future use cases.
Created a hub for system resources and documentation
Made components, guidelines, and tools easy to find and use across teams.
Impact & Outcomes

System Colors
Embedded color tokens within shared libraries and provided documentation to support dark mode and accessiblity implementation.

Typography & Lockups
Established responsive typography and lockups to maintain clear hierarchy across viewports and products.
Iconography
Built global and AppleCare specific icon libraries and developed an interactive tool to standardize icon and logo usage across workstreams.

Cascading Spacing
Defined responsive spacing rules to create consistent layout structure and support predictable implementation across viewports.

Starter Kits
Created starter kits with embedded foundations and symbols, enabling designers to quickly begin system-aligned work.

Libraries
Built and maintained shared design libraries to centralize components and ensure consistent usage in design files.
